As I was sitting in church today, listening to the testimonials and watching the video and hearing the reports of our church's team that went on a mission trip to Russia, I started to think back to my own experiences in missions, with Teen Mania. I especially started to think about when I went to Panama, and our team went to the island of Acuadub. As they talked about the kids in Russia, I started to think about one kid in preticular on that island. His name is Abar. I started thinking about how when we got to the island, and we were playing with all the kids, how he sat out by himself, until I grabbed his hand and started playing with him. I started to think about when he looked at me at the end of that first day and asked me, "¿Tú es mi amigo?" and how big he smiled when I answered, "¡Si! ¿Tú es mi amigo?" I will never forget on our last day of the VBS we were doing on that island and as we were doing the craft, I got to share the gospel, and watch as this 7 year old child give his life to Jesus Christ, knowing at it is going against his family's traditions.
I really hope that this year, as God has called me back to Panama, that I get to go back to that island, to once again talk to the boy who really changed my life, when I went there to help change his.
